AskMerino

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

AskMerino (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a personal AI stylist that suggests outfits from the clothes you already own, through our website, applications and related services (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the Service.

If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following types of information when you use AskMerino:

  • Account information: your name, email address and profile picture, shared by Google when you continue with Google, and any profile details you choose to add.
  • Your wardrobe: photographs of your clothes and the details Merino records about them, such as colour, fabric and fit. Backgrounds are removed on your device before anything is uploaded.
  • Preferences and conversations: your style preferences, the occasions you ask about, your messages to Merino and your feedback on its suggestions.
  • Location: an approximate location for an occasion, used only to check the weather, and only if you allow it.
  • Payment and subscription information: if you subscribe, your plan and transaction records. Payment card details are processed by our payment provider, not stored by us.
  • Usage and technical data: IP address, device type, approximate location from IP, pages or screens you visit, and log data for security and performance.
  • Communications: messages and support requests you send to us.

2. How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Suggest outfits from your own wardrobe for the occasions you describe.
  • Learn your taste over time, so each suggestion fits a little better.
  • Create and manage your account and subscription.
  • Process payments and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates and support.
  • Analyse usage to improve features and performance.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and users.

We never use your photographs or conversations to train AI models offered to anyone else. Where required by law (for example in the EEA/UK), we rely on contractual necessity, legitimate interests, consent or legal obligations as appropriate legal bases.

3. Information from Google

When you continue with Google, we receive only your name, email address and profile picture, and use them only to create and identify your AskMerino account. We never receive your Google password or access your email, contacts, calendar or files. AskMerino's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, keep your account secure and understand how the Service is used. Our sign-in provider sets cookies needed for this. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Where required, we will ask for your consent to non-essential cookies and provide ways to manage your choices. Our Cookie Policy explains more.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show you advertising. We share information only with:

  • Service providers that help us run the Service (sign-in, hosting, storage, AI models, weather, payments and customer support).
  • Professional advisors and authorities where required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
  • Parties involved in a corporate transaction (such as a merger or acquisition), where permitted by law.

These parties are bound by appropriate contractual and security obligations.

6. International transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than where you live, including the United States. When we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required by law.

7. Data retention and security

We keep personal data only for as long as your account is open, or as long as needed to meet legal requirements. You may delete your wardrobe or your whole account at any time, and we will remove your data within 30 days. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, but no system is completely secure.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights such as:

  • Accessing the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correcting or deleting your data.
  • Objecting to or restricting certain processing.
  • Requesting a portable copy of your data.
  • Withdrawing consent where processing is based on consent.

Residents of some U.S. states may also have the right to know, delete and correct their data, and to opt out of its sale, sharing or use for targeted advertising. You can also remove AskMerino's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account settings. To exercise your rights, contact us. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

The Service is for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger.

10. Third-party services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party sites and tools. Their use of your data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where required, notify you through the Service or by email.
